# What is Aile

> Aile is the on-chain FX market for regional stablecoins: firm quotes at traditional-market rates, settled non-custodially on Base, with no account.

Aile is an on-chain FX market for regional, non-USD stablecoins. You ask for a price, receive an order
signed by an independent market maker, and send one transaction. The transaction delivers exactly the
amount quoted or reverts. Nothing is held by Aile at any point.

## Why this exists

Moving between a dollar stablecoin and a local-currency stablecoin on chain today means either a thin
AMM pool that loses tens of basis points to size, or an off-chain desk with an account, a counterparty
and a settlement delay. Aile gives integrators the third option: a firm price from a market maker that
holds real inventory, settled atomically on chain, in the app they already run.

Makers quote per request from inventory they hold, so a dollar of inventory is not spread across a
price curve and is not bled to arbitrage as rates move. They rebalance through issuer mint-and-redeem
rails and off-chain FX desks, so the cost of a fill is the cost of rebalancing plus a margin, and that
cost barely grows with ticket size.

## What Aile is

* **Non-custodial.** Settlement is one atomic transaction between the taker's wallet and the maker's
wallet on the order protocol. Funds never sit with Aile. Aile's servers price and sign; the fill
  itself never passes through them.
* **RFQ, not a pool.** Every price is a response to a request, for a size, for one taker. Independent
market makers compete to fill it; the protocol only enforces delivery.
* **Firm quotes, no last look.** A quote is a signed order. The fill executes at the signed amounts or
reverts. There is no re-pricing after you commit.
* **Transparent.** Every quote carries the reference mid it was priced from, and every fill is on chain.

## What Aile is not

* **Not an on-ramp or off-ramp.** Fiat stays with you and the stablecoin issuers.
* **Not a custodian.** There is no deposit, no balance and no withdrawal.
* **Not a dealer.** Aile owns no inventory and sets no prices. Makers do. Aile therefore promises
neither rates nor depth; it shows you the capacity that exists right now in every quote.

## Who it is for

Integrators that need a stable-to-stable FX leg and keep the ramps, compliance and the customer
relationship themselves: payment orchestrators, wallets, neobanks, remittance apps and DEX aggregators.
End users never see Aile; they get a better rate inside the app they already use.
